Music School Students Give Concert for Bangladesh Appeal

Young musicians from SaMS (Saturday Music School) will be giving their usual Christmas Concert at 1.00pm on the 8th December in the Ariel Centre Theatre at King Edward VI Community College, Totnes. This time, however, they will be donating all the proceeds from the retiring collection to the Bangladesh Cyclone Appeal, organised by the Disasters Emergency Committee.

“It seems a particularly appropriate thing to be doing at Christmas time,” said SaMS administrator and tutor Lewis Riley “helping these people who have lost so much and are in dire need of food, clothing and decent sanitation.”

SaMS has been going for over seven years now, with well over 150 young people aged 5 to 18, attending KEVICC every week on a Saturday morning to have individual music lessons and join in a wide range of musical groups ranging from a choir, to jazz, brass, strings and folk groups, African drumming and other percussion. Most of these ensembles will be performing at the concert which will last about an hour and a half. All are welcome – there are no tickets, just the retiring collection at the end.
