1st September 2006

Dear parents and students,

Welcome to the new SaMS term, which begins on

Saturday, 9th September 2006, at 9.30 am.

The activities will be the same as last year, but we are treating this first Saturday as an “Open Day” as part of the 10 day Totnes Festival (go to www.totnesfestival.com to find out about other events). This will be an opportunity for young people to sample SaMS without feeling obliged to sign up for the whole year. Consequently, registration will not start until the following Saturday, 16th September. Do encourage friends to come along and try out the various groups, which will be run on that first day as “one-off” activities.

Enclosed is the new registration form for 2006/7, which must be filled in, whether you have been to SaMS before or not.

Please read it carefully, particularly the sections relating to health and safety, then fill in where appropriate and bring it with you to the second session.

We should have full charitable status soon, and will supply our registered number when it is available. It will therefore be to our advantage if you can fill in the Gift Aid section on the back of the form.

Please note that the fees are now £36 per year for the first child, with an additional £12 per year for each subsequent child, for attendance at any workshops (but not if you are just taking individual instrumental lessons).

I also include a leaflet with all the SaMS dates and other details for this academic year. Remember that on the last Saturday of each term we have a 1.00pm concert at the end of the usual morning session, which this year will be on December 2nd, March 31st, and July 7th.

I would advise you to make a note of these dates in your diary now to avoid possible clashes.

Check our website - www.samstotnes.org.uk for more information.

We look forward to seeing you on the 9th- have a great year!
